About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Counting hours

I bought with china airline a multi-city ticket. Sydney-Beijing ; Beijing-Rome

I'll arrive in Beijing at 5:50am the 4th of August.
After that I'll leave Beijing the 8th of August at 13:40.

That is more than 72 hours. Can I wait in the airport when I'll arrive before to start my stop over?
Can I come back to the airport in the early morning (5.50am) of the 8th?

I am afraid not, because the airline will check your tickets and count the scheduled landing and departure. If the stopover showing on the tickets are longer than 72 hours, you may not be allowed to board the plane. You can contact the carrier airline directly for this.
