Tokyo to Beijing to Bangkok to Hong Kong

I will be flying from the US with a US passport to Tokyo, Beijing, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong and back to the US in that order. I will be in Beijing for 3 days (65.5 Hours landing to takeoff) and the same amount of time in Hong Kong. Do I need a Chinese visa as my travel agent keeps insisting upon?

Hi, if your fly from Tokyo to Bangkok via Beijing with a stopover within 72 hours, visa is not required and you can avail free transit permit directly after arrival at Beijing airport.
