About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying Tokyo to Guangzhou then train to Zhangjiajie then Hanoi

Can I use TWOV if I am a US citizen flying from Tokyo to Guangzhou then take a train to Zhangjiajie then fly to Hanoi? I want to verify taking a train from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie is allowed since I will be crossing multiple territories.

Your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit without any doubt. You are allowed to cross through several mainland Chinese provinces because this is allowed under 240 hour visa free transit. The only detail here you should have in mind is to have your flight ticket from Zhangjiajie bought even before you check-in in Tokyo because you will be asked to present one in both Tokyo and upon your landing in Guangzhou. One more detail, you should book your first overnight in China in advance because you will be asked to provide the name of the hotel where will you stay for that night. Have a nice visit to China.
