About:China Family Reunion Visa

What are the Q visa restrictions?

Hello

I am planning at some point to move to China with my Chinese wife. We are currently residing in England. I wish to initially go out to spend time with family, and also to do some traveling around with my wife for perhaps a few months. Thereafter I would like to return to my parents in law and also dedicate some time to learning Chinese at the same time at a school or university. Once I had improved my level of Chinese (could be 6 months after entry or perhaps longer), I would like to find a job. This would either be teaching English or something in more usual area of work (Electrical Engineering).

I understand that one cannot work in China under the Q. But is it permitted for an alien to study Chinese at a school or university under either of the Q?

Secondly, would it be possible to change from a Q (of either type) to a work Z from within there if I were to find suitable employment whilst under the Q?

Many thanks

Will

Hi, the best type you can apply now is family Q type. Don' worry, you can study Chinese on it without problem as well as for travel. But if you get a job, you may leave and apply for work Z type outside of China. Currently, applicants in such situation are required to apply in their home country.
