About:Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

Long layover transit in Guangzhou airport

US citizen with a 14 hour layover transit to Kathmandu. Is there any way to exit terminal for a few hours to at least enjoy the local scenery and get a good local meal, or must I be content to be stuck inside the airport?

Since you are US citizen, you can enjoy the 72-hour visa free policy at GZ airport.
Before u start your journey from US, you need to contact the airline company to tell them that you want to enjoy the 72-hour visa free policy and they you can get out of the airport at GZ airport.

I just enjoy the service several days ago.
You only need to apply at the custom counter after you reach GZ airport. It is very simple. It is no need to ask the airline company for help any more.
