Hi ! My wife and I are Danish passport holders and we are planning to visit Beijing for 3 days in July to go sightseeing. Is it necessary for us to get visas for this?

best regards, Alex

If you transit via Beijing to a third country, visa is not necessary, and you are allowed to stay for up to 72 hours.

My wife and I are visiting Manila, Philippines first for a few days. From there we plan to visit Beijing for 2 days after which we will be returning to Manila before we go back to Copenhagen, -Denmark. Is that included in the category of a transit visit?

No, if you fly from Manila to Beijing and will return to Manila, it will not be a transit actually. You need to apply for a Chinese tourist L type in advance before leaving for philippines. (a single entry Chinese L is valid for 3 months after issue date).
