About:Beijing Capital Airport T3

Is there enough time to transfer from international to domestic airplane at PEK?

I will take Air China 990 from New York (JFK) at 12.50 pm on June 5, 2013 & arrive Beijing (PEK) at 2.20 pm the next day. Then I need to transfer HU7811 at 5.05 pm the same day from PEK to Guangzhou. I am a visiting student from USA and don’t speak good Chinese. Is there enough time to transfer from international to domestic airplane within 2.5 hours including going through the immigration desk and what is good procedure I shall follow? (i.e. counter or desk location and gate #). If I don’t check-in baggage in JFK and don’t need to claim baggage in PEK, will it save the time for transfer? I probably don’t have the boarding pass for HU7811 when I arrive PEK (I don’t know if I can get the boarding pass when I check-in in JFK).

As for your case, time is generally suffient. Just hurry up!

You can transfer use this procedure:
1: Inspection & Quarantine, Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection
2: Customs Inspection
3: Going through Transfer Formalities: You have to travel from T3 to T2. The free shuttle bus will help. And if you don't get boarding pass, you have to follow the guiding signs for the transfer passenger in the terminal to go to the Transfer Counter at 3rd floor of T3-C for handling boarding procedures.
4: Security check
5: Waiting & Boarding

As you mentioned, you don't need to claim baggage, it will save some time for you. Oh, the guiding signs in the airport are very clear. You can follow that exactly.
