Can I bring my turtle on an airplane?

I'm leaving China and I've had a pet turtle for five years now. The turtle is of the most common kind around the world. Does China's policy allow transportation of turtles from the country? If so, what are the conditions? I've read on some forums that it depends on an airline's policy. Is it true?

You are not allowed to bring the turtle on the airplane. It must be checked in. But in order to be sure, you should confirm the information with the airlines.
