About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I have a query about my single entry tourist visa...

I'll be flying in to Beijing. However, I have a layover (20 hours) in Guangzhou, during a different flight, a couple of weeks before my trip to china. I'm worried that on landing at Guangzhou it will be stamped, and will no longer be valid for my trip to Beijing. Any ideas?

You won't need another visa to Beijing from Guangzhou in fact.

Just to be clear, I am not flying to Beijing from Guangzhou. I have a layover at Guangzhou during a different flight a few weeks earlier. The departure city and destination are both outside China. Its just a layover.

I'm flying directly in to Beijing a few weeks later, and staying in China. I will need a tourist visa for this trip. The tourist visa is already in my passport. Its a single entry visa. I'm worried that the customs officials at guangzhou will 'stamp' the visa and it will nolonger be valid.

Maybe you can try to state that you will not go out of the airport. Otherwise, your current visa will be stampted.
