About:Zaozhuang Travel

I am working in Tengzhou for the next year, What are there ways to get there for here?

There are only 10 westerners here in Tengzhou and I am the only American, everyone else thinks the area is backward and go to Beijng and other 'hot spots' for the week ends. I am a former tour guide to the Grand Canyon and other points in Arizona. I am a small town guy who wants to see small town China. I believe there are fabulous things everwhere, local history and stories are why I came to stay for a year in China. So I am trying to understand how to get around locally without having a car. I would be interested in tours that are for westerners and who to contact to find them. Iam in Shandong province about 70 Km south of Qufu.

Yes, you are right. Tengzhou is a city with a long history where you can find many interesing places and historical attractions. As far as I know, if you want to know a historical town of China, Tengzhou is a good choice.
There are many memorial halls in the city such as Mozi's and Luban's and many historial sites, which can be all reached by local publich transportation. Besides, Huishan Wet Land Park in Huishan county near the city is very famous.
Yu can also choose to take the local buses to reach other cities nearby such as Zaozhuang and Qufu to visit other small towns with different culture backgrounds.
If you want to travel with tour agency, I think you can choose this website. They have excellent itineraries that can arrange according to the
customers' requirements. I think you can contact them to ask whether they can arrange your travel according to your interests. I have its email travelchinaguide.com|tours
Hope you can have a good memory.

Hi Ricky: It is interesting to see your message as I am also teaching in a smallish city in Shandong, Taian, and thinking it would be nice to find a way to travel around the province in the vacation at the university where I have been. There are also few foreigners here but, like you, I enjoy the really "Chinese" feel of the place. I don't know why foreigners don't want to come to this beautiful environment with its friendly, cultured, hospitable people. The students are very forward-thinking and in touch with the modern world. I was planning to return to London in the new year, but am probably staying on to teach in another place, Zaozhuang. Good luck with your touring! Judith
