About:Chinese Consulate in Sydney

My mum is Australian PR holding Chinese passport. She wants to visit my sister in Hong Kong in April. I understand she will need to apply for exit-entry permit.

My question is how she applies for the permit? any form, how much and how long she can stay in hong kong?

Your mom can apply for Hong Kong Entry Permit from China Consulate in Sydney if she is a resident in the state of New South Wales of Australia.

It takes 4 working days to process the visa if the issuance of the visa is within the authorization of the consulate. And in this case, express services are also available for the second day or the third day collection with extra fees charged accordingly.

It takes about 4-6 weeks to process the visa if the consulate needs to report your application to the Immigration Department of the HKSAR government. And in this case, express service is not available.

Please be noted, this consulate doesn't accept mail-in visa applications. You are supposed to submit your application to the consulate in person or through someone else (namely your friends, relatives or travel agents).

The visa fee is AU$50.

A communication fee of AU$40 is charged when your application needs to be reported by the consulate to the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong SAR government.

Wherever the express service is applicable, an extra of AU$50, or an extra of AU$30 is payable for the second day, or the third day collection of the visa.

Thanks for the reply from Mrs Vivian.

More questions:

1. Where can I get the application form?
2. In which case the visa application has to be reported to Immigration Dept of HK SAR?

Thank you again

1. You can get the Hong Kong Visa/Entry Permit Application Form for free from the consulate. You can also download it from website

2. If your mother want to stay in Hong Kong for more than 30 days, I guess that the consulate needs to report your mother's application to the Immigration Dept of HK SAR.
