About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

I am a UK resident in Japan on a Cultural Activities Visa. The visa lasts exactly a year from my time of arrival in Japan (October '10). I am planning to visit China for a week during April/May and am aware that I will need to apply for a re-entry permit. I am, however, unsure as to what type of visa to apply for. Since Tourist Visas for China are only granted to whose holding Long Stay Japanese visas ("over" a year), what should I apply for?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You need to apply for a tourist visa to China, Mr.Ons, by providing your residence permit or the Cultural Activities Visa. You can start visa processing now if you will visit China in April or May while your Japan visa is still valid for more than 6 months.

Thanks very much for your answer! Most helpful. I have another question, I'm afraid!

My visa ("Cultural Activities") lasts from the 6th October 2010 to the 6th October 2011. However, it must be valid for 6 months after my trip to China. My trip to China is from the 28th April to the 8th May, which means I am TWO DAYS short!

Does this present a major problem, or will they be happy to count the sixth months from my date of departure to China?

Thanks in advance!

No, sir, 6 months requirement is counted from the date when you submit your visa application to the embassy.
