About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

I need to change my student visa to a work visa, I will be travelling to Korea end of January till mid Feb, my visa runs out 28th Feb. would you recommend changing my visa before I go to Korea (originally I thought I could change it in Korea but I don't have the ARC...)? I have my wedding in China in March and want to have my visa so my (Korean) husband can get a dependant visa. If I process my work visa before I go to Korea can my husband get a dependant visa while we are in Korea (will will have the paperwork)... many questions... I thought it would be much simpler than it is!!

Your student visa can not be changed to a work visa in China. If you will work in China after, you are required to apply for a work visa out of China (from your home country in general) by providing invitation letter and visa notice from your employer. As you said, you can not get one from Korea if you do not have an ARC. In addition, if you can provide marriage certificate and a visa notice for him, you both can apply for visas together.

Dear Ms Enid, Thank you for your reply, I know I'll need to go to Hong Kong to process the visa (cheaper than flying back to the UK!), but I didn't know if my husband would have to go with me -he is now in Korea so it's not straight forward... is it possible to process my work visa and then at a later date process a dependant visa from mine (ie in Jan I process mine in Hong Kong then fly to Korea and use mine to process his dependant visa?)? Thank you for the advice.

it is ok to apply for yourself a work visa first in HK, your husband can apply for a dependent visa when you are either in China or Korea. But, prepare for him the required documents beforehand, such as the visa notice and invitation letter from China.
