About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

Hi dear,
my friend is an australian citizen.
He's planning sponsoring my fiancee from china, his future wife to Australia.
Back to 5 years ago, he did commit 2 minor offence (theft), which the court gave him a behaviour bond for community hours.
He's planning coming to china to visit my fiancee and her family.
He already have some conversation with some other peoples from this website.
They recommend him, since those offence are minor, to just click No from the criminal history section. As long he does commit other illegal action in china, otherwise all records will show up.
Him and his fiancee were planning to apply for the wedding certificate in china to sponsor her for the australian permanent resident.
Which he has to get a certificate of status, bringing all documents, passports to go to the china embassy in Australia and getting from them the notary paper.

My question is, obviously by getting the certificate of status, he will eventually need to declare his whole record history.
Would that affect him, getting the china entry visa??

Mr.popponboy, to apply for a certificate of status, he just required to show his Australian Birth Certificate and Record of immigration status: Citizenship Certificate, together with passport. So, don't worry about his criminal record. As the former advisor said, check NO on the application form is the only way can he get visa to China.
