About:China Visa Application in USA

I was born in China and I have recently gotten my U.S. citizenship. I understand that the applicant born in China with foreign passports who apply for a Chinese visa for the first time is required to provide the original former Chinese passport. However, I have lost my former Chinese passport a long time ago. Can you tell me what I should expect to provide in replacement of my Chinese passport when I go to the embassy for my Chinese visa? What will change in the process if I cannot provide my former Chinese passport? Many thanks.

You'd better go to the China embassy/consulate which is near to you to enquire it, I haven't face such a problem because I always keep my old Chinese passport. I'm Christopher Huang, now have gotten the USA passport, but I was born in Guangzhou. I think there is solution for your situation.
