About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Currently, I am living in China with my wife (who is a Chinese National)on an "L" visa (90 days with multiple entries). My wife would like for me to live with her in China for a year or two before leaving to the USA.Is there a way for me to get a Chinese Temporary Residence Permit without a job? I do plan on working in China in the near future, but not at the moment.

I would also like to know what other options do I have besides going to Hong Kong and re-entering China to renew my Visa before my 90 days are up. I would prefer not to have to go to Hong Kong and looking for something within China as an option.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
