Hi there.

I found a job to teach in mainland China and I've been asked to do a medical visit. It costs more than 250 and is not reimbursed by the school. Besides, it would take ages. Is there anyway to get a visa, go to China and do the medical visit there? I have a contract for 12 months as a teacher (qualified etc...)

Thanks

I'm a little confused, do you make the medical visit in China or in your own country? do you mean that you do the medical examination? Your school should apply for Alien Work Permit from State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China and send you an invitation letter in his name if the school is authorized by the Chinese Government; Otherwise, you can't apply for work visa in your country.

Thank you for your reply. I am French but I am currently working in GB. I would like to do the medical examination in China (time consuming and extremely expensive in GB). Is it possible? As I understand, the Z visa is only valid for 30 days and you must do a complete medical examination in China to get a residency permit.
Question 1 : do I need to do a medical examination in GB to get a Z visa?
Question 2 : If I can do it completely in China, where do I have to do it?
Question 3 : Do I need a visa to go to Macau?
Thanks

Mr.dame.melody, it's true that you have to do a complete medical examination in in China to get a residence permit, you can do it in China, I hear that applicants don't need to provide medical examination for work visa application, when you get Z visa to China, your employer will help you to get the temporary residence permit and tell you the place where you need to do medical examination, French citizens are exempt from a visa to Macau for up to 90 days.

Mr. Kevin, I guess that you send your comments in a wrong place, as I know, the minimum qualifications are having English as a first language and having at least a Bachelors degree, then your employer - school can apply for Foreign Expert Certificate for you, you can get a work visa and teach in China.
