About:Dali Weather

Hello!
I will go to travel in southern china next summer.
Reading about the "Tiger leaping gorge" close to shangrila in northern Yunnan, a book said that it was dangerous to go in july/august (the time i will go!) because it rains so much!
is that right?
Is it not maybe not worth it to see southern china (guangzhou, guangxi, guizhou, hunan, yunnan) in those 2 months because of too much rain?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, it will be rainy season but the rainfall is much less in recent years. So, you could go to visit the gorge free under reliable guide. The most beautiful sceneries could be enjoyed in summer, too.

In these cities in South China, you will find the weather is humid and hot in summer. However, all of these could be acceptable, which will not affect traveling very much.

In 2008 half of the road from Dali to Shangri-La was washed away by heavy rain causing many hours delay in our bus journey. Dry months are preferable, say march/April.
