Hi, I have been there in August. I visited several monasteries (Wenshu, Daci and Wuhou). First there is a big difference in entrance fee: Daci was for free, but Wuhou was quite expensive). There was also a difference of athmosphere: Wuhou is a touristic attraction with all its disadavantages. In Daci there were no tourists, and I could have some nice talks with local people. But Wuhou is more attractive and historical maybe more important. It just depends what you are looking for.
Wenshu is a must. I stayed there nearly half a day, including drinking tea in the teagarden and having lunch in one of the nearby fine restaurants.
The Yong mausoleum was a bit disappointing, but a visit to the Panda Breeding and Research centre is a must. And don t forget to stroll through the streets, take a rest in a park and go watching Sichuan opera (I did in Qintai road opposite to the very good Wenjun Mansion hostel where I stayed).
And if you are interested in archeology, don t forget to visit the Jinsha Museum in the western part of the city.
Anyway, you will not regret to have been in Chengdu!
