About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

18hour transit in Guangzhou

According to the dutch government one should register himself within 24 hours of arriving in china. Which is normally done by the hotel. I ll be arriving in Guangzhou 8am and leave next day 2am. So I wont be sleeping in a hotel but would like to go into the city for one day. Should I go to a police station to register myself, the online registration doesnt allow me to fill in my dutch phone number, or is the registration not necessary for such transit?

During your transit time if you do not stay in the hotel, you do not have to register especially since your total transit time is shorter than 24 hours. The registration is really done by the hotel and the registration at PSB - Public security bureau (police) is done only by those who stay in non commercial accommodations like at their friends, colleagues, relatives. Since you do not plan to stay anywhere regardless of the length of your layover, you do not have to register anywhere and you should definitely not bother with filling out an online form as well. Everything you need is just to fill out arrival card upon your landing in China, perform automatic fingerprinting and to cross the immigration where, if asked, you will just declare that you go for a day trip to the city without staying in the hotel. Nothing more than that. Have a nice visit to Guangzhou.
