I just came across your posting on TravelChinaGuide about their embroidery. In China, embroidery is over 8,000years old. I spent 5 years researching the historical development of the needlework and wrote a book in English for others to learn about its history. People around the world share your fascination. If you have any specific questions, please contact me and I will help you.

During the Ming dynasty, exactly how was the embroidery done? Was a hoop used? Was the hoop (if used) adjustable? And if so, how? What were the needles like? Was it all silk embroidery, or was it ever cotton? Were there specific stitches that were used that are different than the stitches used in America today?
