I've heard some reports that permits/permission is required from the police in order to take the bus between Golmud and Dunhuang. I would arrive in Golmud late Friday evening and so if this is still true I would have to wait until Monday for the bus. Does anybody know if foreigners need permission from the police to take this bus?
