About:Drinking Water in China

Taking a shower is fine, but with many other countries please do not swallow the water coming out of the shower head. To brush your teeth use bottled or boiled water.

It seems, in my opinion, it is better to pay 3 kuai for a bottle of water than to get sick. Especially in large cities like Beijing, where the water is down-right disgusting.

Hi! Why is the water so gross? Do they lack proper filtration? I am moving there next month, what do you suggest for a private person for a constant suppply of drinking water in the home? Do the locals drink the tap water? If I do, will I eventually build up a tolerance, or just die ha?

Mr.Ozzie Student,

You won't die in China. I've known that some foreigners have drinking water problem when they come to China. If you can't get used to boiled water in China, you may go to supermarket buy purified water.

Ni hao, Mr. Brad,

That's a good question! Here's another: How many people in China drink store-bought bootleg" bottled water?

I am still working on "the" China's water problems project and now also feng shui!

I had better have that talk with Roger Ames at University of Hawaii at Manoa as soon as possible.

My trip to China is from May 20 and extended to July 15, 2010--this summer! (eight weeks total)!

Whew!

LOVE,

Randy

Hi, I'm currently visiting China and was trying to find information on milk (for my coffee specifically) when I ran across this article. Nice article, btw.

Just wanted to mention to Mr. Ozzie Student that I live in the US and, while the tapwater is safe to drink, I prefer filtered water. If you plan to move to China, I would recommend purchasing a water filter for your home. Not as convenient as the tabletop unit, but it will do for travel :)
