We will be doing a Tibet tour after a trek in Nepal, thus the first stop would hopefully be in Lhasa, a short flight from Nepal. Any suggestion?

It's okay to fly into Lhasa from Kathmandu, however, the flight in between is not daily, usually 3 flights a week. And you’d better read some key points to ensure a smooth tour. Hope it helps.

1) The request letter and Tibet Travel Permit issued by TTB (Tibet Travel Bureau) that will be handled by our Tibet agent along with the clients’ original Passport should be forwarded to our Kathmandu partner.

2) Regarding Tibet Visa formality in Kathmandu, it is must that the visa should be stamped in Chinese Embassy here in Kathmandu. Getting China visa from any other place will not be valid for travel to Tibet and there should cancel the previous visa if issued from any other place and again should be issued in Kathmandu itself.

3) Our Katmandu agent will help our clients to handle the visa reconfirmation there. Normally the clients do not need to go directly to the Embassy for all formalities because of many technical complications there and the best way is to get the service of the local agent who frequently do the same job.
