About:Chinese Embasy in Ireland

Hi, I'm currently traveling in South East Asia and wish to return home to Ireland via Hong Kong at the end of my trip. I understand that as an Irish Passport holder I do not require a visa to enter HK but I am looking to travel overland between Vietnam and HK and would like to know the situation with regard to getting a Chinese visa? Is it possible to get a Chinese Visa in Vietnam as I will not be returning to Ireland in advance of this trip? I will be in both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, can I get a visa here? Please let me know any requirements for getting this Visa.

You are able to obtain a Chinese visa in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides the passport, application form, hotel and air tickets, you are also required to present a Vietnamese visa or residence permit.

Air tickets? Are these for entering or leaving the country? I will be leaving from Hong Kong and entering overland via Vietnam. Do I need to purchase a train/bus ticket in advance, crossing into China, before I can get my Visa? Also do I need hotel accomodation booked for the duration of my visit in China or just my first night? Thanks for your help.

Travel Overland? So you should probably purchase train tickets instead of air tickets. The hotel accomodation booked for your first night may be ok.
