About:China Train

I have saw there are some letters(eg: z19, d1663), does that mean different companies operate just like airlines? What is the difference? Thanks!

hi Karen,
Passenger trains are numbered by numerals with the capital Chinese phonetic letters in front. Different letters imply different trains like the followings:
Z - Through Train
D - Bullet Train
T - High-speed Train
K - Express Train
N - Fast Train
L - Passenger Extra (Temporary Train)
Y - Tourist Train

The trains are all administrated by the China Ministry of Railways.

The letter Z stands for non-stop through train and the letter D stands for bullet train. The Z train only has a few stops halfway, so the train journey takes less time than the traditional train. The D train has several stops on the way, but the journey takes same time or even less time than the Z train for it runs with very high speed.
