Visa after 2026

I'm travelling to China from 15 December 2025 to 4 January 2026. I have seen that Irish citizens can visit China for up to 30 days without a visa. However, this information suggests that this free travel period is only valid until 31 December 2025. If I arrive on 15 December 2025, will I be able to stay without a visa until 4 January 2026, or will I need to apply for a visa before travelling to China? I will arrive and depart from Beijing.

The price of a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival is 130 CNY, equal for the citizens of all countries. Probably the best time to arrive at Lo Wu / Luohu is after 10:30 or so... The first wave of travelers has already passes through the border crossing and after 10:30 the pressure will be definitely relaxed. The application process is not at all complicated, although there are some steps. You will take a photo of yourself from free self photo booths. You will also fill out arrival card and when asked about your address in China you will just write down the name of your hotel. In case of a day trip, you will just skip that segment or write down - a day trip. You will perform fingerprinting and also fill out an application form to obtain a Shenzhen 5 day VOA. You will pay, preferably by your bank card (credit or debit), and when your visa is granted you will head to the immigration. After that you are free to enjoy your time in Shenzhen on your own. When your stay in Shenzhen is over you can return back to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and also by taking any mean of transport, high speed train included. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen.
