The main problem here is the fact that there is no visa office as Shenzhen airport and, consequently, you will not be able to obtain a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival. Your best alternative is to travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong or in some other country or eligible territory in order to be eligible for 240 hour visa free transit.
For example, if you insert Hong Kong in your travel itinerary, you will have eligible itinerary for 240 hour visa free transit:
X country - Shenzhen (mainland China) - Hong Kong
In order to be eligible, you will have to buy your Shenzhen to Hong Kong train ticket in advance even before you depart from country X toward Shenzhen. You will be asked to present that train ticket in X country and also upon your landing in Shenzhen. When the time arrives, you will just take a train that you have bought your ticket for and travel to Hong Kong.
In case if you have a round trip (return) ticket to/from Shenzhen airport you will do the following:
X country - Shenzhen - Hong Kong
Hong Kong - Shenzhen - X country
I know that this could be a bit of a hassle, but this is the only way how to bypass the fact that you will not be able to obtain a Shenzhen 5 day visa on arrival because of the lack of visa office at Shenzhen airport. Of course, you can obtain a Chinese visa in advance if it suits you better. I hope this helps.
