About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Eligibility for 240-hour Transit Without Visa (TWOV) in Beijing

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help confirm if we’re eligible for the 240-hour Transit Without Visa policy in Beijing. We hold UK passports and will be travelling with Air China.

Here are our travel details:

20th October: London Gatwick → Beijing
25th October: Beijing → Hong Kong
5th November: Hong Kong → London Heathrow (with a 2h 50m layover in Beijing, but we will not leave the airport)

Would this itinerary qualify for the 240-hour visa-free transit in Beijing?

Thank you in advance for any guidance!

Yes, your itinerary is, without any doubt, eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need a visa at all. Your second transit through Beijing will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit, but here you will not perform any formality nor fill out any forms. Also, during your second layover you will not be a subject of immigration and customs controls because you will just walk from one to the other gate. Your entire travel scheme is a nice, textbook example how to use visa free transit options through China. Have a nice journey.
