About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

China visa free 10 day 240 hour eligibility?

Can you fly from USA to Tokyo for 5 days then fly to Beijing and depart Shanghai for USA. The time in China will be under 240 hours

Yes, you definitely can. Your itinerary: US - Tokyo - mainland China (Beijing + Shanghai) - US is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit scheme, but you should be aware that your flight from Shanghai to US is not allowed to have any kind of landing in Japan. Have a nice visit to China.
