About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Inquiry: Shanghai–Pudong Airport Transit Visa

Hello! I am a Bolivian national and currently reside in Spain (I hold a Bolivian passport and a Spanish NIE).
I have planned a trip from Spain to Japan, with round-trip flights that include layovers at Shanghai–Pudong Airport:
A 4-hour layover on the outbound journey
A 9-hour layover on the return journey
I have read information about the 24-hour visa-free transit (TWOV) policy, but it is not clear to me whether this exemption also applies to Bolivian citizens. Could you please confirm if I need a transit visa in my case?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Yes, 24 hour visa free transit definitely applies to Bolivian citizens. It applies practically to the citizens of all world countries just to be precise. Your entire itinerary is perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. During your first layover in Shanghai you will just walk from one to the other gate and you will not perform any formality. Also, you will not fill out any forms and you will not be a subject of immigration and/or customs control. You will just cross a security check between the two gates. During your second layover you can choose whether you will do the same thing as you have done during your first layover or you will want to exit the airport for a short visit to the center of Shanghai. If you plan to exit then upon your landing in Shanghai the first thing that you will do will be to fill out arrival card where you will tick the box on the arrival card where it is written - transit. After that you will perform automatic fingerprinting. With a filled out arrival card and a fingerprinting receipt you will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets and along with arrival card and fingerprinting receipt. This is all free of any charge. After a short check you will be granted a temporary entry permit and then you will cross the immigration and finally to exit the airport in order to explore Shanghai briefly. You will decide. In any case and whatever you decide, I wish you a wonderful journey.
