Entering China by Land

Hi,

I'm wondering what the rules around entering China by land are? I'm a British national who will be crossing the border via Kazakhstan, most likely on a bus. I will then spend (I hope) less than a week crossing China by train before leaving for South Korea.

As I understand it, most Chinese Visas require proof of a flight? Is there something I can do to secure a Visa even though I'm entering by land?

Thanks!

I think you can skip the flight no. part and give explanations while submitting.
