About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does this itinerary qualify for visa free China travel

I am flying from US to Hong Kong staying in Hong Kong 2 days then flying to Beijing to join a tour group for 8 days then depart Shanghai for Hong Kong then US. Does this qualify?

So it's like US - HK - Beijing - Shanghai - HK? I'm afraid it doesn't work as your previous stop before Mainland China and next stop after visit in Shanghai are both HK, which is considered a round trip, not a transit, so it's not eligible for the 240h visa-free transit. You can fly back to US without layover in HK from Shanghai to make it a transit route.
