About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does this itinerary works for the 240 hour visa free entry?

Hi,

I’m traveling with a US passport to China using this itinerary: Bangkok - Beijing - Xi’an- Hong Kong. Do I have to depart from Beijing to fly to Hong Kong? I’ve been getting many different responses and one of them is that I must depart from the same airport I entered Mainland China?

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you can enter China using one and depart from it by using totally unrelated airport from the other side of the country. So, arriving into Beijing and departing from Xi'an airport is perfectly acceptable. Also, it is allowed to use two separate tickets, one for your Bangkok to Beijing and another for your Xi'an to Hong Kong leg. Between Beijing and Xi'an you can travel by plane or train, the choice is all yours. Have a nice visit to China.
