About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Canada - guangzhou - hong kong

Hi,

Does the visa free transit policy apply if I fly from Canada to Hong Kong airport (taking the ferry directly from hk airport to nansha port in guangzhou)? Then five days later I take the ferry from guangzhou to hk and then i fly back to Canada.

Or does it have to be a direct flight from Canada to mainland china.

HK is part of China but it has its own immigration apartment so it can be considered as country A or B. But you are not eligible for the upgraded 240h free transit as HK - GZ - HK is a return trip not a transit.
