About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Please help - Bangladesh Passport, Canada resident,

Hello,

I hold a Bangladesh passport and a Canadian residency. I will be in Japan, and after that, travelling to Thailand (have a visa). I have just purchased a ticket with Hainan Airlines to travel from Japan to Thailand. I have a one-hour layover in Beijing. I do not need to go out to re-check my baggage. It is all on one ticket. Do I need to get a China visa? But I'm only transferring.

Mona, your situation is very simple. You do not need any kind of visa because your transit in Beijing will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit scheme. It is important to emphasize that you do not need to perform any formality nor will you fill out any forms. You will just walk from one to the other gate and you will remain all the time within the transit area (airside) of Shanghai airport. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspections. You will just encounter a security check (metal detector and similar stuff) between the two gates. Just to conclude, you do not need a visa and you are ready to go. Have a nice journey.
