About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can Canada Refugee Travel documents transit in shangai

Hello,
I would like to know if I can remain at Shanghai Pudong International Airport during my 17-hour transit as a holder of a Canadian Refugee Travel Document (blue passport).
I would also like to know whether I am eligible to leave the airport and explore Shanghai under China’s 24-hour visa-free transit policy while waiting for my connecting flight.
And this is my itinerary
Toronto>shangai pudong> Male (departure)
Male>Abu Dhabi > Toronto (Return)

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response.

You can travel through China absolutely visa free based on 24 hour visa free transit scheme. The fact is that those who have booked their journeys as a single booking (single ticket) are free from immigration and customs control in Shanghai, consequently Chinese immigration authorities will not have any interest to interact with you at all. Basically you will just walk from one to the other gate and between them you will just cross the security check (metal detector and the stuff). Here one important detail. You will definitely have to stay within the transit zone of the Shanghai Pudong airport. Simply speaking, you will not be allowed to exit the airport and you should not even bother to try to obtain a temporary entry permit. I hope this helps.
