Sorry to tell that you cannot get the Hutong Card at at the airport and you need to go to the service center in Dongzhimen. But notably there is the Payment Service Center at both Beijing Capital Airport and Daxing Airport to help foreigners use online mobile payment for public transportation and daily life in China. The staff will guide you how to use Alipay and WeChat Pay and they also provide currency exchange.

It is still too early to say transportation card is sold or not at Beijing's airports. There are so much confusion here.

Beijing City is committed to improve conditions of foreign temporary visitors. Handling Yikatongs at the airports are one of the actions needed and it is specifically included the written article about it at China Central Television on March 30, 2024.

Negative aspect of this is that:

There are so many Y-video popular clips showing that nobody working at T3 station filmed between 2023 and early 2024. Even in Japanese Y-video maker's video filmed on April this year, still nobody was present at T3 station desk. Station worker showed up few minutes later in that video to give changes.

For Daxing Airport's confusion, Chinese Y-video maker called Liam is saying service desk is closed, which seems to be a rumour. But Beijing's tourism Y-video channel has a recent video showing Daxing Airport, desk at Daxing Airport subway station still seems to have Yikatong refund service available sign but it is not clearly shown.

Overall, it is better to ask for it at the airport. No give-ups.

Shanghai's Pudong and Hongqiao Airports both have dedicated desk for selling transportation card for foreigners at arrival floor.

Beijing Airports should do this to follow Beijing City's guidelines.

Shanghai and Beijing are under similar situation. They need more foreign visitors to promote economics. Shanghai and Beijing are making similar guidelines.

Transportation card to be sold and refunded. More shops to accept Visa and MasterCard. More hotels to accept foreigners. Alipay and Wechat Pay set-up services. More ATMs. More foreign exchange services. Better ticketing services for foreigners at tourist attractions and events.

I found another Japanese Y-video maker filmed at this Spring, Daxing Airport subway station desk still had Yikatong refund service available sign.
