Do I need to travel to Calgary for an in-person meeting at the Chinese Consulate in Calgary?

I am Canadian living in Edmonton, Alberta. I will be travelling to Shanghai and Beijing on August 2024 and leaving China to travel to Tokyo on August 29, 2024. Do I need to travel to Calgary for an in-person meeting at the Chinese Consulate in Calgary?

No. You should go to the CVASC in Calgary to submit your application in person.
