About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

144 hr transit

I hold Canadian passport and want to enter China from Hong Kong via Guangzhou via car and leave within 4 days to go back to Canada via car from Guangzhou to Hong Kong airport. Does it work for 144 hr entry?

No, unfortunately, this is not possible. The only eligible way to enter China via Guangzhou from Hong Kong is to fly on a direct, nonstop flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and then to enjoy your stay there and in entire Guangdong province for 144 hours. After that, you are permitted to take a direct flight from Guangzhou to Canada, but this flight cannot return to Hong Kong or have any other landing within mainland China of any kind. Simply, it has to be a nonstop flight from Guangzhou to Canada. During your stay in Guangdong province you are fine to take any mean of transport within the province.
