About:Visa on Arrival

UK to shenzhen to hong kong to shenzen to seoul

Hi we are travelling from UK to shenzhen with a view to travelling straight to hong kong, staying there for 3 days then travelling back to shenzhen and onto seoul before returning to UK. My question is if we look to get a VOA when we arrive in shenzhen and travel to hong kong can we get another VOA 3 days later to travel back into China to fly out to seoul. Just wondered if the applications were too close together? If it makes any odds we are travelling 2 adults, 2 children and we booked this because it was so much cheaper then flying directly to hong kong!!

Emily, unfortunately, there is no visa office for Shenzhen VOA at Shenzhen airport. You can only rely on 144 hour visa free transit for your UK - Shenzhen - Hong Kong segment. However, to be eligible for this scheme, you will have to stay in Shenzhen for at least 24 hours and 1 minute and exit by ferry from Shekou port to Hong Kong.

Also, to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, you will have to buy your ferry ticket before you depart from UK through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger Transport company and to print it out and have it at hand because you will need it in both London and Shenzhen. Again, scheduled departure of the ferry has to be at least 24 hours and 1 minute after your scheduled arrival by plane in Shenzhen. You will have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your tickets for.

After your stay in Hong Kong, you can return to Shenzhen by applying for 5 days Shenzhen VOA at designated border crossings, including taking a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen. Please, just have in mind that the price for UK citizens is 834 CNY due to reciprocity and the opening hours of Shekou visa office are: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30. If you decide to take Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing, you are advised to reach the crossing even before 09:00...

You can take a flight to Seoul, but your flight is not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China of any kind.

As I know, there is VOA available in Shenzhen airport. However, it is really not so sure to get it. Borut's advice is more recommended.
