About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hanoi - Shanghai - Amsterdam

Hello,

I will do a stop over in Shanghai for 8/9 hours until my flight to Amsterdam. I don't expect to go out of the airport. Do I need to apply to any VISA? The 24visa free is possible in this case, if yes, it means that I do not have to apply to anything or do I need to apply online to the 24visa free?
Thank you.

(I'm Portuguese but I will fly from Netherlands)

Ana, you do not need any kind of visa because you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit, so there no visa of any kind. Since you have written that you do not intend to leave the airport, you will just transfer from your arriving to your outbound flight just with your passport and your boarding pass. You do not have to do anything else and you do not have to fill out arrival/departure card either. In case, if you change your mind and you decide to exit the airport, you will just approach transit counter where you will present your flight tickets and where you will apply for a temporary entry permit, absolutely free of charge. In any case, I leave it to you to decide what is best for your during your Shanghai layover.
