About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Change in itinery

I want to do one way trips, so I want to leave out of Orlando Florida and go into Tokyo on April 17 for a cruise. Then on May 2, I want to travel from Tokyo one way to Beijing to do a tour of the wall of China then on May 5 I want to leave and go to Manila. Then on May 13 I want to go from Manila back to the United States is this a problem for any visa Free transits? I’m not sure if the 72 hours is free or the 144 hours is also free and I’m not sure does it run from the time I arrive from the airport at 5 PM on 2 May to the fifth at 1 o’clock going to Manila

I will simplify... The only segment of your entire journey that is relevant for 144 hour visa free transit is the following:

Tokyo - Beijing - Manila

So, it is important that between Tokyo and Beijing and Beijing and Manila you do not have any other landing of any kind anywhere within mainland China. Basically, if your flights are of nonstop kind, you will be definitely and without any doubt eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Beijing area and you can make here different trips & tours as well as to explore the area on your own.

It is also fine to travel on separate (one way) tickets and with unrelated airlines. The only thing that should be taken care of is that your itinerary is exactly as you have written in your post. You are encouraged to print out your flight tickets as well as your hotel booking confirmation and you are ready for your visit to Asia, absolutely visa free. In the end, it is not 72, but 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area.
