About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Question

Hello, i will be flying from Seoul to beijing Feb 20 and land in beijing on an early morning flight. I will go visit beijing for the day then I will then leave feb 20 in the night to hong kong. The airlines will be different and i have an american passport. Can this work as a 24 hour visa transit? Great site and info! Thanks!!

Yes, your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. However, if you want to exit the airport, you will approach transit counter (desk) immediately upon your landing in Beijing where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. This application is for free. Here you will present your flight tickets and it is advisable to have them in hard copy, that will show that you simply have to exit the airport because you are flying on separate airlines and, I assume, on different tickets. After a short check of your documents, you will be granted a temporary entry permit and you will exit the airport to explore the city and also to perform the formalities as far as your onward flight is concerned.
