visa144 hour transit

Question

HiWe are trying to determine which is the better option. We will be flying from Icheon to Shanghai to Auckland. Staying in Shanghai for 5 nights. From what I understand we would qualify for the 144 hour transit but have read these can be refused and you can be denied entry upon arrival. So is getting a visa the safer option, or will the 144 hour transit be fine?

As long as you don't have any overstay record in your passport in any country, it's not a problem for you, a New Zealand passport holder to get the 144-hour visa-free transit. If I were you, I won't bother to apply for a visa in advance for this trip.
