The citizens of Singapore are eligible to enter, stay and explore China absolutely visa free for up to 30 days. Consequently, they do not have to bother themselves with this subject. In case if you are a citizens of some other country different than Singapore, here are several details:
- There is no 144, but more generous 240 hour visa free transit. Also, this is not a visa at all, but just a transit visa - free.
- Itinerary as you have presented it, is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. It is important to understand that you will have to buy your exit (Shanghai -> Hong Kong) ticket before you depart from Singapore to Shanghai because you will be asked to present it in both Singapore (at the time of check-in) and in Shanghai (upon landing).
Have a nice visit to China.
