About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

144 hour entry policy

I'm planning to fly by AirChina in June/2024, leave Beijing within 144 hours on to BKK . Am I allowed to take advantage of the 144 hour visa free policy when I will buy the tickets from BUD to PEK and PEK to BKK (multi -city option). Should I need get transit visa in Embassy or enough to get "144-hour Visa-free Transit" visa in Beijing Airport?

Tom, you have perfectly understood the scheme and you do not need any kind of visa.

You can use multi city or separate tickets, this is perfectly fine.

Your Budapest to Bangkok segment has a transit longer than 24 hours and you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area. You will be allowed to exit and to enjoy your short time in Beijing exploring it.

Your Bangkok to Budapest segment is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit because your transit time is far shorter than 24 hours. In any case, you will just remain here airside and you will not cross the formalities of immigration or similar.

To confirm again, your first flight is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and the second one for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not have to bother with embassies. All you need is yourb passport and your flight tickets.
