USA citizen Chinese Visa

My wife currently lives in China for work, but we haven’t received our official marriage certificate since it takes a few months to come from South Africa so I won’t be able to apply for the V1 or V2 visa without it. I am a U.S. citizen with a passport and I figured I could get a tourist visa with an invitation letter. Does anyone know what’s the longest duration I would be able to stay on this kind of visa? Would my wife be able to fill out the invitation letter stating a year? Since that’s the duration of her contract. Or will I be better off applying for multi entry? If so what duration should I place on my paperwork. Sorry this is all very confusing

Hey. I'm in china right now on a tourist multi entry visa. The maximum is 30 days. So I every 30 days I have to leave and come back. I go to either macau or Hong Kong. Then get re stamped coming back in. I think due to your circumstances it will probably be better and faster to do this as opposed to waiting for paperwork for sponsorship. Good luck.

How long do I have to leave china for Hong Kong to get re entry on my M visa. I have booked a flight to Hong Kong on Saturday morning and return Saturday evening. Duration of stay in Hong Kong is about 3 hrs. Does that help ? Or I may need more time in Hong Kong before I return to China. Please help

There is no time limit on it. You can even return immediately after going to HK.
