About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Tokyo to Beijing to Bangkok

My flight from Beijing to Bangkok has a 3 hrs layover at Pudong Airport in Shanghai. Does it violate the transit requirements?

It depends on your exact route and timings. If your flight to Beijing is from a third country (not China and not Thailand) then you won't need a visa as long as you are in China for less than 24 hours (from scheduled arrival in Beijing to scheduled departure from Shanghai). Otherwise you will need a visa.
