About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Istanbul > Chengdu > Seoul

My flight lands at 5:55am in Chengdu and my connecting flight leaves the following day at 8:15am so 26 and a bit hours connection. I would like to know if I am able to leave the airport during this time to visit the city center of Chengdu and return the airport and pass immigration before 6am the morning of my connecting flight.

The flight is on one ticket so I do not need to collect luggage as it will go through to Seoul and is with Air China. I also only have a Colombian passport.

1. Do i need to apply for any visa in advance? or can i do it just at the airport?

2. Will they let me leave given the airport seeing the connection is slightly over the 24 hour time even though by
the time I get to immigration it will probably be closer to 8am anyway?

1. You need a transit visa, because it is over 24 hours from the scheduled arrival time to the scheduled departure time.
2. You can leave the airport with the transit visa and visit downtown.

If Shanghai is the only stop in mainland China, then you are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit. You may be rejected to get out of the airport. It doesn't matter with your nationality but only because the transit time is too short.
